In a debate, rather than complain about your opponent’s position and debate style or tone, perhaps the energy should be channeled to improving your own grasp of the issue at hand and the crafting of your argument. Whining about the methods employed by your adversary often suggests you’ve neglected to do your homework and are, thus, largely devoid of the knowledge and means by which to adequately make your case. And so your only alternative is to personalize things and seek to disqualify the other. The tactic contributes nothing to the debate, other than to diminish the one employing it. The problem is usually within, so search there first.
