“Enemy of the people?” Oh Donnie-boy.

Yes, it’s true. With regard to vaccines, the mainstream media has it wrong. As wrong as it possibly can be. But it is not alone. Most doctors are wrong. Most public health officials are wrong. Most legislators and political leaders are wrong. Most people, in general, are wrong. So the media has lots of company in this regard. But that doesn’t mean the mainstream media is unreliable or “fake” as a whole. There are many excellent and thoroughly professional journalists out there, and great newspapers and magazines.

For the most part, the mainstream media is a reliable source of news and well-crafted editorial commentary—both on the left and the right. We don’t have to agree with it all, but neither should we disparage it all. (As some would have us do.) What we should be repulsed by is when someone refers to the media as the “enemy of the people.” Anyone who dishes out such gruel is, unquestionably, the enemy of freedom and democracy.
