Privileged

I understand the appeal of authoritarian government, fascism, caudillismo. I understand how the cancer can take hold in other countries. It just never occurred to me that I would be privileged to be able to observe the disease growing before my eyes in the United States of America. Now, bear in mind that I use the word “privileged” not in a proud sort of way, but rather more in a manner of being fascinated by the unique historical aspect of it all.
