No, modern medicine hasn’t saved us

Medicine should be about more than trauma care. symptom chasing, and pain relief/management. Ideally, it should be primarily about curing illness and educating people about how to maintain optimal health and guiding them. This is not largely the case within “modern” Western medicine, which is mostly about responding to trauma and alleviating pain. (Both wonderful things, by the way.) It is this overly narrow focus, however, that may be the reason we find ourselves getting sicker and sicker. Chronically so. Yet, somehow there is this strange belief being promulgated that modern medicine has saved us and doctors are gods.
