Sacred land

Hell, no one would think of building an oil pipeline across Arlington Cemetery or across Gettysburg battlefield or over the site of the Twin Towers. Why, primarily? Because it’s sacred land. So why trample on the sacred land of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe? What makes one culture’s sacred land more legitimate, and thus worth preserving, than another’s? I think of all the land that has been stolen from the first Americans for the fulfillment of manifest destiny. I think of all the land that is being stolen from the Lenca people in Honduras for the sake of corporate profits.
