Saviors

One of the biggest handicaps of poorly educated underdeveloped countries is that their people have this weird proclivity to bank on saviors to save them from their lots. They continually miss the point that positive change in a society doesn’t happen from top down but rather from bottom up. So they remain apathetic, sleepy and whiney for years, and then when election time comes around they go out and root for their perceived savior. The person takes office and nothing really changes in the country. If anything, things get worse. People get angrier and more frustrated because their savior let them down. So they go back to sleep and await their next savior. Oh, I guess it’s not just underdeveloped countries that suffer from this delusion.
