The buy-off

Donald Trump Often Made Donations to State Attorneys General Reviewing His Business

One of the big reasons our system of government—be it local, state or federal—has become increasingly corrupted is that extremely wealthy people make a habit of buying off our political leaders. The buy-off is what often gives these ethically challenged individuals a pass when it comes to their personal or business dealings and antics. The more money you have and are willing to spend to buy favors from officials or simply have them look the other way, the wealthier and more influential you become, which then, in turn, strengthens your ability to buy off more officials and avoid paying for your sins. It is an incestuous relationship which gets perpetuated over and over again. Perhaps the only thing crazier is trusting those who help fuel this corruption.
