Do not cede the realm of science to scientists and doctors. No more than you should cede the realm of religion to ministers, priests and popes. Or politics to politicians. Or cooking to chefs. Or car repair to mechanics. Science is a discipline and a process. It can be learned like anything else. You read, you study, you observe, you engage, you ask, you debate, you reflect. You do it over and over again. All that is required is half a brain, some desire, passion, discipline, time, and access to information. Scientists and doctors are not demigods. They get things wrong all the time (… often, painfully, thoroughly wrong). Just like all the rest of us little people.
