“Experts” really blow

Here’s a good rule of thumb… Whenever you come across an article with a headline that begins with, “Experts say or “Expert view on”… either delete the darn thing or toss it in the trash. It’s pretty much worthless. I made the mistake today of reading a piece titled “Vaxxed: an expert view on controversial film about vaccines and autism” in The Guardian. Pretty much worthless. Another pediatrician. What a crock. Here are my thoughts on that: click. The word “expert” is more overused than the word “hero.” Steven Weinberg said it well: “An expert is a person who avoids the small errors while sweeping on to the grand fallacy.” So did Colin Powell: “Experts often possess more data than judgment.”
