Both Micheletti and Zelaya didn’t go into the “negotiations” in Costa Rica thinking that everything would be on the table. Hower, I do believe that the Micheletti team was willing to be infinitely more flexible than the Zelaya team. I believe that if Mr. Zelaya had shown remorse (including admission of his sins, etc.) and a sincere willingness to come back and serve out the rest of his term quietly and not make any trouble, the Micheletti team might have considered allowing Mel back in as president under extremely restrictive conditions. But, as kind of expected, Mel continued to show his true colors, and this only solidified the interim government’s opposition to him even further.
