Canada is not socialist

Canada is not a “socialist” country. It is a “social democracy”. Most of the country’s production is controlled by private industry. Most of it’s GNP is generated by private industry. It practices capitalism, not socialism (… although of course there are some programs like healthcare that are nationalized). Socialist countries do everything to discourage private business and entrepreneurship. They try to nationalize everything and concentrate power within the government. Also note, as you well know, there is nothing inherently more saintly about government than there is about private business. They are equally susceptible to corruption and greed. That’s why you have different branches of government to provide checks and balances. It has nothing to do with the kind organization. It has everything to do with people, their values and their culture. Change people first and the change within government and the private sector will automatically happen.
